Just having a hard time rendering the right light and colors. The face is more like the top portrait and the background more like the bottom one.
8"x10" - Acrylic
This is my submission to the Different Strokes for Different Folks challenge. It WAS a real challenge for me as it is my very first portrait done with a brush. It was a lot of fun, and it has encouraged me to practice more often.
Looks great! Much better than mine of you I'm sory to say. I'm SO slow. Didn't have nearly enough time. Still it was fun. Thanks for doing such a great job on me!
Thank you everyone. I had a hard taking the right picture to show the right colors and lighting. I added a new picture on top to show what the face is more like. Andy, I think that the fact that we're all different in our styles, mediums, and the way we work... that's what makes this challenge so much fun. As long as you had fun and enjoyed yourself, that's what matters, I think that's what the point was. If you'd like to swap portraits with me, send me your address at bigounets@hotmail.com, and I'll send you mine in return. Have a great and Happy New Year everyone.
You really captured his likeness, Sandrine! And I should know...this is my husband on our wedding day last August. Thats why he was smiling! Beautiful! Thank you sooo much! LuAnn
Beautiful job, Sandrine. Can't believe it's your first portrait! It really is a standout - lighting, color, everything. And you even captured the twinkle in his eyes!
Thank you LeeAnn. It's not my first portrait ever. I've done portraits with pastels, charcoal, and graphite. It was my first time with brushes which make me very uncomfortable because I can't control them the way I want yet.
Beautiful lighting Sandrine! This portrait is extremely eye-cathing on the DSFDF site! Nice job!
